# ALTAR II

A quietly beautiful work. ALTAR II draws you in through its layered architecture of soft pinks, blush tones, and warm neutrals, building a composition that feels both intimate and carefully held. Panda's sensitivity to material is clear: the hand-dyed fabrics carry subtle variations that keep the surface alive, while the stitching gently maps the artist's intuitive process. There is a sense of inward movement toward the pale center, almost like a space of pause or reflection - calm and grounding in any interior.

### About The Artist Content

Panda Landa (b. 1982) is a queer, non-binary visual artist and filmmaker who creates vibrant mixed-media textile works using reclaimed, hand-dyed materials. Raised in the deserts of Nevada and now based in Joshua Tree, Panda draws inspiration from the quiet, open landscapes that shaped them, letting the colors, textures, and moods of the desert guide their work.

Self-taught in visual art, Panda works through instinct and improvisation, allowing each piece to develop naturally. Sustainability is central to their practice: every fabric is sourced second-hand and transformed through careful hand-dyeing, giving each artwork its own unique history. Their ongoing series - PORTAL, ALTAR, ECLIPSE, VESSEL, and more - explores themes of queerness, identity, ancestral narrative, healing, and transformation.

With a background in filmmaking, including their 2022 film ‘In the Middle of Everywhere’, Panda brings a strong sense of atmosphere and storytelling to their visual work. Their pieces invite viewers into a world shaped by emotion, color, and the quiet power of reclaiming and reimagining what already exists.
