# Cantilena II

Three colors line up along the top edge of Cantilena II and let go one after another: deep cobalt, bright lemon and a soft sage green. Each sends its own set of drips down a glowing golden ground, the blue short and rounded, the yellow long and even, the green stretching almost to the bottom edge. Across the gold, a fine granular shimmer catches the light like dust in a sunbeam, and the whole surface rests beneath a clear, glassy skin.

Colangelo lets each drip record a single pour, free to find its own length before a coat of resin seals it in place. The glassy finish deepens the colors and gives the small panel a liquid stillness, as though the paint had only just stopped moving. Among her CASCADE works, it has the clarity of a simple melody carried by three voices. It suits a walnut cabinet beside a sage velvet armchair, or a pale oak dresser in a lilac bedroom, where brass and lemon accents pick up its glow.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
