# Carried Away I

Everything in Carried Away I leans the same way, as though a current swept through and took the colors along with it. Ribbons of red, tangerine, golden yellow, turquoise, sky blue and deep navy stream on a diagonal across a stepped arrangement of panels, some pale and smooth, others warm with wood grain. Where the paint meets an edge it catches, pools and spills over, leaving glossy tangles behind, and near the lower middle the streams gather into a small eddy of red, teal and blue before rushing on.

Colangelo poured with long, sweeping motions and let the flow carry straight across every seam, watching where it chose to collect rather than steering it. A thin dark thread of paint drops vertically through the bands, a quiet counterpoint to all that motion. From her RIVERS series, the painting suits a wall that can be seen from across an open room. It looks striking above a light oak dresser in a sunlit entry, or over a walnut credenza in a soft blue living room with rust red cushions.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
