# Celebration

A column of soft, glowing discs descends the left side of Celebration: red, then orange, yellow, green and blue, each one blurring into the next like lanterns strung in a row. At the foot of the column a lilac circle rests on its own, trailing a few pale pink dots. To the right, a wide yellow arc sweeps down the panel, its ribbed edge raised like the rim of a shell, and inside its curve a red spiral spins in a mist of crimson speckles against navy, teal and silver grey.

Colangelo misted the discs on with spray paint in quick circular passes, then pressed the arc and the red spiral on thickly, leaving them to dry with a crusted, textured face. That play between haze and relief gives the piece real depth. From her COSMOS series, it has the bright spirit of a party glimpsed from a distance, colors floating through the night. It sits beautifully above a walnut desk paired with a blue upholstered chair, or a light oak dresser in a warm, open living space.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
