# Cherry Blossoms

Corcelle has lived and worked across Africa, Asia, and Europe, and the transience she witnessed everywhere, the bloom that is gone before you have finished looking at it, threads through this work. Loose gestural marks in black drift across a field of soft color like branches in wind, while bursts of pink and white surface through layers of acrylic and collage.

It is a painting about impermanence, yes, but also about the particular beauty of things that do not stay. The cherry blossom is a subject that has accumulated centuries of meaning, and Corcelle approaches it without sentimentality, letting the materials carry the weight of what words would overexplain.

### About The Artist Content

Christiane Corcelle is a French-American mixed media artist based in Massachusetts. Her intuitive, layered practice spans painting, printmaking, collage, and de-collage, building richly textured surfaces that invite close exploration. Guided by curiosity and openness to process, she transforms color, shape, and found materials into works that are both dynamic and contemplative.

Drawing inspiration from global experiences and cultural textures, Corcelle has exhibited widely across the United States and internationally, including shows in France, Vietnam, China, Cuba, Peru, and Azerbaijan. Her work is represented in public and private collections worldwide, among them the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the Boston Public Library, the Art Complex Museum, the Contemporary Art Center, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in Hanoi, the Danang Fine Arts Museum, the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Universidade Feevale in Brazil, Las Casas de las Américas in Cuba, and the Permanent Collection of Château d’Orquevaux in Orquevaux, France.
