# Coastline Memory

Coastline Memory reads like a shoreline seen from high above at the height of summer. A flame of red crowns the top, spilling into cream and buttery yellow flecked with orange, then through bands of mint, aqua and sky before settling into a deep cobalt that seeps toward violet at the base. At the center, a small turquoise and amber swirl sits like a hidden cove, and the dark blue ground wraps around it all like open ocean.

Colangelo poured and tilted the panel, letting each color run down into the next, and the speckles and swirls formed on their own as the paint travelled. What reads as surf and sandbar was left just as the pour placed it, glossy and raised in places like wet stone. From her TERRAIN series, the piece carries the warmth of a favorite place held in memory, its colors still vivid. Small and bright, it suits a kitchen wall above a marble counter, or a walnut cabinet beside a rust velvet chair, where cobalt ceramics pick up its blues.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
