# Crescent Song

A golden crescent sweeps across the upper left of Crescent Song, its broad stroke folded over itself and tapering to a fine hooked tip. Across from it, slender loops of the same warm yellow fan out from the lower right corner like the ribs of an opened shell, each petal drawn in one unbroken line. The ground is a deep blue green, softly misted, and every stroke carries its own sprayed halo, so the yellow seems to glow against the dark like lamplight in evening air.

Colangelo laid in the sprayed shadows first, then drew the loops in thick poured lines that sit raised on the panel, glossy at their edges and creamy at the center, where the fan gathers into one dense knot of paint. One of her COSMOS paintings, it holds the calm of a night sky with a single moon rising. It anchors an entryway above a black console and a boucle bench, or a living room with a soft blue wall, a cream sofa and warm oak.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
