# Desert Moon

Desert Moon holds two pale moons over a quiet, sunbaked land. The nearer one is a crisp ivory disc, its glossy face flecked with tiny rings, while the other sits behind it, soft and ghostly, as if seen through rising heat. Around them a creamy sky is veined with warm gold and broken here and there by rough clusters of bronze. Below, a broad band of woven cloth in earthy brown stretches across the panel like desert floor at dusk, its fibers catching the light beneath a glassy coat of resin.

Colangelo built the surface from textile, pigment and resin and let each material bring its own texture: the cloth stays coarse and matte, the bronze crumbles like mineral, and the moons shine with a smooth, poured finish. Along the right edge, a clear measuring ruler set into the resin runs down the sky and stops where the land begins, a found object that quietly marks distance and time. From her COSMOS series, the painting has the stillness of wide open country at the end of the day. It rests easily above a walnut console in a warm cream entry or an oak sideboard in a sage green dining room, where linen, stoneware and brass carry its earthy palette.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
