# Dictée

Text runs through this painting like a river, not to be read, but to be felt. Layered beneath and above washes of warm color, the words dissolve into texture, into mark, into pure visual rhythm. The title means dictation, and there is something of that quality here: language received, transformed, rendered into something that belongs entirely to the eye.

Corcelle's French roots show in her ease with text as material, as paint, as thought. This is a painting about the moment language becomes something else, when meaning releases its grip and sensation takes over. It is quietly radical, and entirely beautiful.
