# Drifting Thoughts

Drifting Thoughts runs on a long, easy slant, with ribbons of tangerine, red, sunny yellow, aqua, cobalt, navy and powder blue crossing the surface one after another. Beneath them sits a cross of white planes, framed at the corners by warm, wood-toned sections whose grain shows through the paint. Some pours run bold and smooth while others splinter into fine threads and spatters, and near the edges pale yellow trails loosen into soft, wandering shapes. Between the orange lines, a thin glaze of gold catches the light.

Colangelo let the paint slide across each surface and over every seam, following its path rather than steering it, so the lines carry straight through the joins between wood and white. The result feels open and unhurried, like a mind at rest with ideas drifting through. One of the RIVERS paintings, it has the scale to anchor a large room. It looks wonderful above a long oak bookcase in a bright living room, or over a dark sideboard in a peach dining room, where the warm wall picks up its tangerine and gold.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
