# Duet

Three rounded forms lean together on the pale ground of Duet, close enough to touch. The one on the left is a deep, dimpled blue, slashed with gold, crimson and a stroke of forest green. On the right, a plum and magenta shape is combed through with ribbons of mint, white and moss that swirl like silk. Between them stands a quieter mauve form, smooth and softly brushed, with a few tiny silver points catching the light. Each has its own surface and rhythm, yet the three read as a single exchange.

Colangelo layered and dragged the paint until the colors marbled where they met, a way of working that leaves room for surprise, and she followed the forms as they emerged rather than planning the pairing. Part of her FORCE series, the painting is tender and companionable, two voices settling into a shared key. Small enough for a dresser or a bedside wall, it glows above a walnut vanity with a blue velvet stool against warm rose plaster, or over a stone console in a slate blue entryway.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
