# Glee

Soft sprayed orbs of turquoise, emerald, scarlet and sunflower float behind Glee like balloons at a party, their edges misted into the pale ground. In front of them, tall ribbons of cobalt, magenta, tangerine, aqua, yellow and silver pour down the panel, swelling and narrowing as they travel and ending in small rounded drops. At the center a broad, crusted stroke of pale lemon cream rises like a raised hand. The poured lines sit thick and glossy over the velvety haze behind, giving the surface a buoyant depth.

Colangelo layered spray and pour without a set plan, leaving each color to find its own place, which is why nothing in this RIVERS painting sits still. Faint spirals inside the orbs and the trailing drips keep the eye moving from one bright note to the next, and the mood is pure, unguarded delight. Against a white wall above a low black credenza and a cobalt chair it reads crisp and graphic, while over a pale oak bench in a soft blue hallway its warmer tones come forward.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
