# Go Fetch

A wide field of soft sage green holds painted forms scattered loosely across the surface. Warm orange circles cluster in the upper right, a brick red square sits low on the left, and dark shapes anchor the composition at intervals without weighing it down. The white ground breathes at the edges. The painting has an ease to it, light and open, like something that came out right the first time.

### About The Artist Content

Lee Cox is a contemporary abstract artist based in Carmel, California. After a 35-year career in telecommunications, he transitioned from a lifelong collector of abstract art to a dedicated studio painter.

Cox’s practice is rooted in memory and impression, with each painting serving as a layered meditation on a moment, emotion, or lived experience. Working primarily in acrylic and collage, Cox approaches the canvas without a fixed plan. He builds depth and texture through an intuitive process of addition and subtraction, guided by memory and music. Music often triggers recollections that shape the composition, and as the work evolves, a specific memory gradually comes into focus. Cox continues to refine the surface until the emotional truth of the moment feels fully realized. His carefully chosen titles offer context while leaving space for open interpretation.

Cox’s work has been exhibited in solo and juried group shows across California and nationally, and his paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States.
