# Gratitude

Gratitude opens with a sky of saturated red that pools and thins across the top of the panel. Beneath it, soft peach forms roll and fold like low clouds, then break into a band of orange and marigold that flickers upward in small, branching flames. A sliver of spring green and turquoise slips in along the right. Everything comes to rest in a deep cobalt sea, glossy and still, its surface dotted with tiny bubbles and its upper edge feathered where the blue met the warm colors above.

Colangelo poured the bands one after another and let them settle their own borders, so every meeting of colors has its own shape: lacy where orange meets peach, softly ragged where cobalt rises into green. "Each piece is created with a sense of freedom," she says, and here that freedom reads as warmth rather than drama. One of the BLOOM paintings, it carries the glow of a good evening. Small enough for a kitchen coffee bar or a dining room cabinet, it looks lovely with honey oak, terracotta cushions and a pale blue wall.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
