# Happy Hour

There is a looseness to this painting, a generosity of spirit that comes through in every mark. Pinks and magentas spread across the surface alongside gestural text and cheerful, unexpected shapes, and the whole thing has the quality of a good conversation at the end of a long day. Corcelle moved her practice into her home in 2021, and the domestic warmth of that shift is felt here.

It is an unguarded painting, which is its greatest quality. Nothing in it is trying to impress. It simply offers itself up with easy pleasure, the way the best hours always do.
