# Hidden Place

A secluded corner of woodland and water: dark tree forms reflect in still, shallow water among reeds and old fence posts, with touches of acid yellow-green in the foliage catching the light. The scene has the quality of a place stumbled upon rather than sought - dense, overgrown, intimate. Batia works wet-on-wet to achieve the soft bleeding of dark tones into water and reflection, then anchors the composition with decisive marks for the vertical fence posts and bare branches. The palette of deep brown, black, and sudden yellow gives the piece its particular tension.

### About The Artist Content

Batia Senft is an Israeli-Dutch painter, born in Bulgaria, whose work grows from a deep connection to landscape, atmosphere, and the quiet emotions found in nature. Using watercolor, acrylic, ink, and pastel, she creates layered scenes where fields, skies, and trees ease into one another.

Senft works intuitively, following the flow of color on paper and letting unexpected marks guide the direction of each piece. Her paintings move between abstraction and realism, allowing forms to appear gradually and on their own terms. Some works begin with a feeling or a moment observed outdoors; others start from a photograph she later interprets with her own sensibility. Light, weather, and seasonal change often shape the mood and rhythm of her compositions.

Exploration is central to her practice. She shifts comfortably between techniques and materials, letting each painting develop at its own pace. Her work is noted for its emotional sensitivity, subtle harmonies of color, and the quiet sense of movement that runs through it.

Senft has exhibited in Israel, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, and South Korea, and her works are collected internationally.
