# Hope, Rising

Hope, Rising opens in a burst of sunflower yellow. Thick ribbons of it curl down the left edge and fan out across the middle in long, splashing strokes, while a cobalt cloud settles into the upper corner. Beneath the yellow, a pale aqua shape is traced with fine teal lines, and teal dots trail toward the bottom like scattered seeds. The lower half softens into a misty haze of grey and lilac, where a sprayed glow of yellow lifts from the base and a small red splash flares beside the signature.

Colangelo built the painting in quick, layered passes, spraying the soft grounds first, then pouring and flinging the brighter paint over them. Up close, the yellow sits thick and glossy, and beneath it the surface has been dragged into fine vertical ridges that catch the light. Part of her BLOOM series, the work moves upward with the lightness of morning after a long night. It brightens a breakfast nook with a sage bench and a stone table, or a walnut desk lit by a brass lamp against a soft blue wall.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
