# it will take time

A soft, cloud-like form settles in the center - grey-green and sage, with deep blue gathered at its heart. Patience made visible. A quiet understanding that some things cannot be hurried, only waited for. Something difficult, becoming something beautiful.

Nature informs her palette, and the painting develops slowly through layering, washing, and returning to the surface until it reaches its own resolution.

### About The Artist Content

Rita Matos (b. 1988) is a Portuguese-born, London-based mixed media artist. Working from her studio in London, she creates paintings informed by her surroundings and emotional landscape, using abstraction as a means of reflection and inquiry.

Her practice is guided by an intuitive process of mark-making, producing works that range from large-scale, gestural compositions to more intimate paintings. Through layered applications of color, Matos combines expressive, physical gestures with moments of restraint and carefully considered abstract imagery, allowing each work to evolve organically through the act of making.

Central to her work are ideas of accumulation and disappearance, surface and depth, and fragmentation and cohesion. She approaches painting as a process of construction and deconstruction - adding, erasing, and reworking the surface -where each mark becomes a trace of time and experience. Painting thus functions as an act of remembrance, capturing the residue of both presence and absence.

Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and is held in private collections internationally.
