# Open Heart

A block of red glows at the heart of Open Heart, softened at its edges by a fine mist of spray. Above it, a cloud of white drifts with faint pink loops traced inside, while sky blue wraps around everything and deepens to slate along the left side. Small flashes of yellow appear at the top and bottom like sudden sunshine, and down the right edge runs a column of quick handwritten marks, playful and private.

Colangelo worked in fast passes of spray, letting each mist blur into the next and welcoming whatever happened along the way. The result has no hard lines to hide behind: the red feels warm rather than loud, and the handwriting reads like a note left for someone close. From her BLOOM series, it is generous and unguarded, a painting about feeling openly. It brings warmth above a sofa in a living room or a credenza in a study, where terracotta, cream and soft blue tones draw out its glow.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
