# Overflowing

A great chartreuse crescent curls through the center of Overflowing, its feathered strokes ribbed like the vanes of a wing. From its heart, a tangle of golden lines bursts toward the upper left in long, looping throws, and a lacy white splash spills over the middle like foam breaking. The ground is a deep sea of teal and blue, lit by a yellow haze in the lower corner, while confetti dots of orange, violet, aqua, black and white scatter along the top and right edges.

Colangelo built the crescent with dense, combed strokes, then flung the gold over it in quick gestures and let the white run and pool into fine cells. A small crusted patch of gold and cobalt near the bottom edge adds a surprising bit of relief. One of her COSMOS paintings, it feels generous and full of motion, as if the color could not be contained. It holds its own above a built-in bench and farmhouse table under a rattan pendant, or a cream sofa with olive and mustard cushions.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
