# Pastorale

Pastorale moves in slow, rolling bands, with navy settling along the top and loosening into cobalt and bright turquoise. Through the middle a lavender ribbon bends like a lane through open fields, a soft coral cloud resting on its left. Below, a lime green slope climbs out of buttery yellow, its surface rippled in fine ridges like wind passing over grass. At the right edge a pale form of white and lemon sits apart from the rest, its scalloped, cellular layers as soft as a fleece.

Colangelo poured the colors and let them settle in their own time, so each band melts into the next without a hard edge and the surface dries glossy and smooth. The scalloped form is where one pour gathered and lifted on its own, the kind of moment she leaves to the process. One of her BLOOM paintings, it carries the calm of a long summer afternoon in the country. It sits beautifully above a cream sofa with navy and lavender cushions, or on a buttery yellow wall over a pale oak sideboard in a sunny breakfast room.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
