# Rainbow Promise

Red runs down the center of Rainbow Promise, and the other colors gather around it in pairs: orange, yellow, green and blue repeat outward on either side, so the panel reads like a rainbow unfolded and laid flat. The streams are thick and glossy, swelling and narrowing as they fall, each ending in a soft, rounded tip, with a few small blue drops resting below. At the top the colors meet and mingle where they started together, and a pale wood grain shows through the white ground between them.

From her RIVERS series, the painting began at a single point near the top, where Colangelo poured the colors and then let them part, each finding its own path toward the lower edge. She lets the process set the course, and the small wobbles and pooled tips are the record of that freedom. The effect is bright, balanced and quietly hopeful. It looks fresh above a light oak bench in a sunny breakfast nook, or over a black cabinet in a family room with warm peach walls.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
