# Rising Hope

Rising Hope is built on a single diagonal gesture. A broad sweep of powder blue climbs from the lower left toward the upper right, marbled with white, slate and soft rose where the colors drifted into one another. Its upper edge breaks into a crest of thin, upright drips, and along the lower side fine ribbons of copper and red trail out in parallel lines like a comb dragged through wet paint. Around it, the panel glows with a wash of lemon and chartreuse that fades to warm cream at the corners.

From her TERRAIN series, the painting reads like a landform seen from the air, a ridge pushed up by slow forces and still settling. Colangelo poured the blues and let them find their own channels, then raked the edges while the surface was still fluid, so the ridged lines hold a sense of motion caught midstream. It anchors a pale oak bookcase in a sunlit living room or a walnut sideboard in a dining room, where brass lamps, olive branches and soft blue upholstery echo its palette.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
