# Rouge Pour Toujours II

A deep crimson ribbon winds across a pale, layered ground in a continuous looping gesture that moves from left to right with the momentum of cursive writing. The marks are wide and dense, their edges rich, the paint applied with a full, loaded brush. Beneath the red gesture, the ground reveals its construction: pale blue and green washes, rectangular forms traced in soft pencil or scraped into the surface, yellow accents that flicker at the edges of the red passages. The lower portion of the canvas opens into a quieter zone of incised geometry, cool tones, and a few stray marks of red that have traveled below the main gesture. The relationship between the controlled ground and the sweeping mark above it is where this painting finds its energy.

Christiane Corcelle is a French-American mixed media artist based in Massachusetts. Her intuitive, layered practice spans painting, printmaking, collage, and de-collage, building richly textured surfaces that invite close exploration. Guided by curiosity and openness to process, she transforms color, shape, and found materials into works that are both dynamic and contemplative.

Drawing inspiration from global experiences and cultural textures, Corcelle has exhibited widely across the United States and internationally, including shows in France, Vietnam, China, Cuba, Peru, and Azerbaijan. Her work is represented in public and private collections worldwide, among them the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the Boston Public Library, the Art Complex Museum, the Contemporary Art Center, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in Hanoi, the Danang Fine Arts Museum, the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Universidade Feevale in Brazil, Las Casas de las Américas in Cuba, and the Permanent Collection of Château d’Orquevaux in Orquevaux, France.

She also designed 60 Years of North American Prints, the Boston Printmakers’ award-winning publication.
