# Sanctuary

Sanctuary glows like a small stained glass window. Four bands stand side by side, garnet red, sunflower yellow, forest green and a deep plum, each one built from crushed, glassy fragments that catch and scatter the light. Clear resin pools over the whole surface in soft ripples, holding every chip in place like pebbles seen through shallow water. A wide border of turquoise frames the jewel tones, cool and calm against the warmth gathered inside.

Colangelo let the fragments fall where they wished before sealing them, so each glint is a small, happy accident rather than a plan. Under the resin the colors shift as you move, the yellow turning to honey and the green to near black where the pieces crowd together. One of the RELIC paintings, it feels intimate and quietly protective, a place to rest the eye. At this size it suits a bookshelf, a desk or a small nook, and it glows above a walnut chest or a writing desk, near amber glass, brass and garnet or teal velvet.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
