# Starlight in Hot Cocoa

A face in three-quarter profile, turning gently away from the light. Zhong builds her porcelain-like surface through delicate layers of warm tones beneath cool, luminous glazes, so the skin seems to glow from within. From the surrounding darkness, the figure slowly emerges, the shadows deepening the sense of quiet intimacy. It feels less like a portrait and more like a private moment unfolding just beyond our reach.

### About The Artist Content

Meifen Zhong (b. 1986, China) is a painter based in Shanghai. Immersed in visual art and music since childhood, she developed an early sensitivity to form, emotion, and rhythm that continues to shape her work today. After graduating from the China Academy of Art in 2010, she devoted herself fully to painting, working across oil, drawing, and egg tempera.

Zhong's practice centers on portraiture, exploring the quiet intensity of human presence. She is particularly drawn to surfaces that recall porcelain, smooth, luminous, yet fragile. Through subtle gradations of light, meticulous brushwork, and restrained compositions, her paintings convey introspection and vulnerability with dignity.
