# Sunday, Slowly

Sunday, Slowly rests on soft blocks of lemon, chartreuse and cream that sit side by side like patches of afternoon light, their lower edges loosening into long, thin drips. Across this warm field, two poured cups of golden yellow lean toward each other, each holding a bloom of magenta with a tangerine heart. A dark violet thread runs between them, pooling at one end and narrowing to a fine filament where it reaches the other. The poured forms are glossy and full, while the blocks behind stay dry and matte.

Colangelo poured the two forms and let them travel and meet on their own, a way of working she sums up simply: "I love allowing the process itself to guide the final result." Here that freedom reads as ease, the colors finding each other without any hurry. Part of her BLOOM series, the painting carries the golden pace of a weekend with nowhere to be. It sits beautifully above a cream sofa with blush and lilac cushions, or over a walnut dresser in a lilac bedroom, where a pink rug and soft boucle echo its magenta.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
