# Valse

Four feathered forms rise through Valse like dancers caught mid-turn. Two are silvery white and airy, two are slender and charcoal dark, each swept upward in quick strokes that leave the fronds standing slightly proud of the surface. Behind them the ground spins through golden yellow, a pool of black, emerald, dusty rose, a column of violet, soft lilac and a deep cobalt blue. White paint has been flung across it all and runs down in thin drips, as if the music had scattered it in passing.

Colangelo sprayed the soft fields of color first, then built each plume in a few rhythmic passes and let the splashes land wherever the gesture carried them. Up close, the silver holds a faint metallic sheen and fine bronze threads trail between the strokes. One of her BLOOM paintings, it turns with an easy grace, light on its feet and quietly joyful. It sits well above a dark wood sideboard in a warm living room or over an upholstered bed, where lilac linens, plum velvet and brass lamps pick up its softer tones.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
