# What the Rain Left

Dozens of fine lines run down What the Rain Left like water on a windowpane. They fall from a band of violet blue along the top edge, each one coral red at its core and shadowed in blue, teal or a flicker of saffron, and they stop at different heights as if the rain eased off one drop at a time. Between them the ivory ground stays calm and open, and a few small orange beads near the bottom catch the light like the last drops to land.

Colangelo let gravity draw this one, allowing the paint to run down the panel and find its own paths before sealing everything under a clear coat of resin. "I love allowing the process itself to guide the final result," she says, and the slight wobble in each line shows just that. The resin gives the surface a soft gloss and a whisper of fine crackle. Part of her CASCADE series, this small work is lovely above an oak kitchen cabinet with terracotta pottery, or a walnut cabinet in a cozy reading corner.

### About The Artist Content

Mandie Colangelo is an abstract painter based in Monterey, California. Raised in Arizona, she painted from childhood and wrote music, then built a creative career that moved through fashion, design, jewelry, graphic design and photography. Each chapter sharpened her eye for color, form and material. A season of profound change brought her back to the brush, and painting is now her primary practice.

Working in the abstract expressionist tradition, she builds her surfaces from acrylic, resin, street inks, pigment powders, fabric and, most distinctively, plastic, and treats each painting as an open experiment. Her paintings move between celebration and loss, memory and renewal. As she puts it: "More than anything, I hope my artwork inspires hope, joy, and reflection in those who experience it."
