Cedric Vu
In 2024, Vu returned to his hometown to establish a physical art practice rooted in creative authorship and independence. Teaching himself to tuft yarn, he began creating textile works - often self-portraits - using his own image out of practicality as he developed his technique in the medium. Though textiles have become the foundation of his emerging body of work, Vu continues to expand his practice with the intention of working across multiple mediums.
Since establishing his studio practice, Vu has exhibited at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, where he also serves as an Art Preparator. His work will be featured in the forthcoming 2027 group exhibition Echoes of Being at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Vu’s work has quickly captured the attention of collectors and admirers alike, including renowned stylist and image architect Law Roach, known for his collaborations with Zendaya, Céline Dion, and others.
“ I was interested in translating photographic detail into yarn. I wanted to see how far I could push the material. Each piece became a record of my growth. The work sits somewhere between image and object. Fun to touch, fun to look at. ”— Cedric Vu
