The Artist

Kate Vorona (Moldovan, b. 1993) is a contemporary expressionist figurative painter whose work explores the emotional inner worlds of her characters. Using vivid colors, dynamic movement, and a balance of textured and flat surfaces, she creates scenes filled with tension, passion, and a sense of suspended choreography - figures that seem to dance, fall, or drift through atmospheric space. The environment often shapes their mood, as ambient tones and shifting light merge with the bodies themselves, suggesting unseen forces such as music, wind, gravity, or longing.

Born and based in Chișinău, Moldova, Vorona studied painting at the Republican College of Fine Arts (2011–2015) and later earned her LFA from the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (2015–2019). She has exhibited widely across Europe and North America, including Moldova, Germany, France, Romania, Dubai, Canada, and the United States. Her work also appeared on large-scale LED screens throughout Dubai as part of a public art initiative.

With her bold palette, expressive gestures, and layered emotional narratives, Vorona has become a rising voice in contemporary Moldovan painting, bringing forward a vivid, modern language rooted in movement, atmosphere, and human connection.
