About

The Artist

Javiera da Fonseca Ilić (b. 1982, Santiago de Chile) is a visual artist currently based in Mexico. Her practice explores the interconnection between memory, dreams, and energy through material experimentation and conceptual inquiry. Engaging both the microscopic and the cosmic, her abstract compositions investigate the human relationship with nature and the sense of unity between the inner and outer worlds.

Da Fonseca Ilić earned her Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Universidad de Chile (2001–2005). She continued her professional development through mentorship programs with Eugenio Dittborn (2008–2009) and Taller Bloc (2013), both in Santiago de Chile.

Solo exhibitions include Aguas Latentes (Loot Gallery, Mexico City); When the Subject Chooses the Artist (Loot Gallery, Zihuatanejo); Panorámica Maya (123 Gallery, Mexico City); Memoria Expandida (Casa Equis, Mexico City); and Aura (Monica Reyes Gallery, Vancouver).

Da Fonseca Ilić’s work has been featured in numerous international art fairs, including Foire Papier Montréal, Art Toronto, Art on Paper New York, Art Market San Francisco, Art Seattle, The Hamptons Market Art + Design, Art Palm Beach, and Ch.ACO Fair (Santiago).
